This 8-day journey takes you through Bhalukpong's jungle foothills, Bomdila's apple orchards and monastery views, across the frozen Sela Pass (13,700 ft), and into the mystical Tawang valley — home to one of Asia's largest Buddhist monasteries.
Arrive Guwahati and drive to Bhalukpong (approx. 4 hrs) — the gateway to Arunachal Pradesh. Cross the state border and collect your Inner Line Permit. Evening walk along the Kameng River. Overnight in Bhalukpong.
Drive through lush forests and terraced fields to Bomdila (2,415 m / 7,923 ft). Visit Bomdila Monastery with spectacular Himalayan views. Explore the local market and apple orchards. Overnight in Bomdila.
Early morning departure. Drive through Dirang valley (hot springs, dzong), then cross the legendary Sela Pass at 13,700 ft — often snow-capped even in spring. Descend into the Tawang valley. Arrive Tawang by evening. Overnight in Tawang.
Full day in Tawang. Morning: Visit the Tawang Monastery (Galden Namgey Lhatse) — founded in 1680 and housing 500 monks. Explore the museum, prayer halls, and the giant golden Buddha statue. Afternoon: 1962 War Memorial, local market, Urgelling Monastery (birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama). Overnight in Tawang.
Day excursions from Tawang:
• Madhuri Lake (Shungetsar) — stunning alpine lake at 13,400 ft, surrounded by snow peaks
• Taktsang Gompa — cliffside monastery
• Nuranang Falls (Jung Falls) — 100 m waterfall near Jang village
Overnight in Tawang.
Begin return journey. Drive back over Sela Pass to Dirang. Visit the Dirang hot springs for a relaxing soak after your mountain adventures. Overnight in Dirang.
Early morning drive back to Guwahati (approx. 7–8 hrs). Overnight in Guwahati.
After breakfast, transfer to Guwahati Airport for your onward journey. Tour ends with memories of Arunachal's magnificent Himalayan landscapes.
