Meghalaya, meaning "Abode of Clouds," is one of the most breathtaking states in Northeast India. This 6-day tour takes you through the legendary living root bridges of Nongriat, the crystal-clear waters of Dawki's Umngot River β€” often called Asia's cleanest river β€” and the thundering Nohkalikai Falls near Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on Earth.

Detailed Itinerary

Arrive at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati. Our representative will greet you and assist with transfer to Shillong (approx. 2.5 hrs). En route, stop at Umiam Lake (Barapani) for stunning views. Check into your hotel and freshen up.

Evening: Explore Shillong's Police Bazar and Ward's Lake. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Shillong.

Morning: Visit Elephant Falls (three-tiered waterfall), Shillong Peak (highest point in Meghalaya), and the fascinating Shillong Golf Course β€” the oldest in Asia.

Afternoon: Drive to Cherrapunji (Sohra), 55 km from Shillong. En route, stop at Laitlum Canyon for sweeping panoramic views of the valleys below. Check in at your Cherrapunji hotel.

Evening: Witness the magical sunset over the clouds at Seven Sisters Falls viewpoint. Overnight in Cherrapunji.

Overnight in Cherrapunji.

Morning: Trek to the famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge at Nongriat village (~45 min trek down 3,500 stone steps). These remarkable bridges are formed by training fig tree roots over decades β€” a feat of Khasi bio-engineering.

Afternoon: Drive to Mawlynnong β€” declared Asia's Cleanest Village. Visit the Living Sky Walk bamboo structure, stroll pristine village lanes, and interact with local Khasi families.

Evening: Check into hotel near Dawki. Overnight near Dawki.

Morning: Drive to Dawki (20 min). Experience the iconic boat ride on the Umngot River β€” the water is so clear your boat appears to float on air. Visit the India-Bangladesh border checkpoint.

Afternoon: Explore the colourful market at Dawki and see local fishermen at work. Drive back to Shillong (3 hrs).

Evening: Last evening shopping at Police Bazar for local handicrafts, Cane & Bamboo products, and Khasi shawls. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Shillong.

After breakfast, check out and drive to Guwahati Airport (2.5 hrs). En route, you may stop at Nongpoh market for local snacks. Board your onward flight with a heart full of memories from the magical Abode of Clouds.
