Assam is the soul of Northeast India β home to Kaziranga National Park, the mighty Brahmaputra River, ancient temples, and endless rolling tea gardens. This 5-day journey takes you from the sacred Kamakhya Temple to the wild grasslands of Kaziranga, where you'll get up close with the endangered one-horned rhinoceros on elephant-back.
Assam is also the birthplace of Indian tea β and no visit is complete without a guided tour of a heritage tea estate, followed by a cup of the finest Assam CTC brew.
Arrive at Guwahati Airport and transfer to hotel. After freshen up, visit the revered Kamakhya Temple atop Nilachal Hill β one of India's most important Tantric shrines. Evening: Sunset boat cruise on the Brahmaputra river and visit to Peacock Island (Umananda). Overnight in Guwahati.
After breakfast, drive to Kaziranga (approx. 5 hrs). Check into resort near the park. Evening: Optional cultural show with Bihu dance. Overnight near Kaziranga.
Early morning (5:30 AM): Elephant safari through the Central Range β the best way to spot the one-horned rhino at close quarters. Afternoon: Jeep safari through the Western Range β watch for tiger, wild buffalo, hog deer, and elephants. Evening at leisure. Overnight in Kaziranga.
Drive to Jorhat. Visit a heritage tea estate for a guided tour and tea tasting. Optional ferry to Majuli Island β the world's largest river island and a hub of Vaishnavite culture and Satras (monasteries). Overnight in Jorhat.
Drive back to Guwahati Airport (4.5 hrs). En route, stop at Jakhalabandha for local snacks. Board your onward flight with memories of Assam's wild landscapes and warm people.
