Nagaland is unlike anywhere else in India. Home to over 16 major Naga tribes, each with its own distinct traditions, costumes, dances, and dialects, this tiny state in the far northeast is a living museum of tribal culture. The state comes most alive during the Hornbill Festival (December 1–10) — dubbed the "Festival of Festivals" — when all tribes unite in a dazzling display of music, dance, sport, and craft.
Beyond the festival, Nagaland offers Kohima's poignant WWII War Cemetery, the traditional Ao Naga village of Mokokchung, and a warm hospitality that is legendary across the Northeast.
